Welcome!

My name is Suzanne Conway, and I am a learning facilitator and instructional designer from Bedford, Virginia. I have over 20 years of experience in instructional design and content creation for use in professional development and by other learning professionals, as well as for student learning.

Please take some time and enjoy exploring samples of my work. If something catches your eye, or you see something you would like to know more about, please send me a message through one of the links at the bottom of my portfolio.

Professional Development Offerings

This Canvas course was designed as an asynchronous professional development offering for new and returning teachers in my district and was part of the Capstone project for my M.Ed. in Instructional Design. It was designed to improve teachers' knowledge of student engagement and research based strategies to improve engagement in the classroom. It includes activities that use H5P and other interactive tools available through Canvas, as well as pre- and post-assessments.

Use the link to review my Unpacking the Standards course, created using Articulate Rise. The course provides professional development for new teachers. It focuses on how to locate state-specific instructional standards and resources on the Virginia Department of Education website and how to "unpack" those standards and resources to create alignment between the standards, daily lessons, and assessments. The course uses a variety of interactive features available in Rise to assess knowledge as learners move through the course.

Upcoming Project

My next project, which is "in progress" until the gradebook attached to our Student Information System is live for the school year, will be a short training to guide teachers through the process of setting up their gradebooks. The training will be geared primarily toward new/new to the district teachers who have not used our system. As the final performance assessment, teachers will be prompted to compare their completed grade set-up with a screenshot of mine and then complete a short quiz. A job aid will be provided as a refresher for returning teachers who may need help recalling a step or two in the process. I have been providing this training in-person, sharing my screen with teachers on a Cleartouch board, for several years, but because of the number of new teachers needing instruction this year, felt that an asynchronous option would be a more efficient use of time.

Made for Other Educators

For the last 10 or so years, I have been a content creator and seller on Teachers Pay Teachers, an online marketplace for instructional resources created by and marketed to other educators. My content includes full unit-plans with facilitator guides/instructions, practice activities, performance and traditional assessments, and answer guides. There are also supplemental resources and smaller instructional aids for less complex/in-depth content.

Creations for the Classroom

Writing an Email to your teacher.pptx

This slide deck was originally created using PowerPoint but was converted to Google slides to be included in my portfolio. It was designed to be used as a whole group presentation to introduce the standards for writing emails to an instructor.

This infographic was created on Canva to give to students as a learning aid to help them remember how to structure an email after they are taught the steps in the slide deck.

This is an example of an interactive slide deck create using Google slides for use in my classroom. It was designed to be completed asynchronously through students' Canvas accounts.

"The Landlady" Lesson 1, Plot and Foreshadowing

This infographic, created with Canva, was designed to help students remember the important components of the composing domain of writing, somthing my kiddos often struggled with.

Just for Fun

I created this microlearning course using 7Taps to send to my son after the first time I taught him to make Mom's Fried Chicken. We had a blast, but he'll definitely need a refresher before he makes it on his own!

I hope you've enjoyed reviewing some of my creations. If you are interested in anything I've done, please use my email or LinkedIn profile to get in touch with me. I look forward to working with you!
